Privacy policy

The short version: your video never touches our servers. EchoLab processes camera footage entirely on your own devices, over your own Wi-Fi. The only personal data we hold is what's needed to run your account and subscription — an email address — and optional, anonymised error reports if you turn them on.

This policy covers the EchoLab apps for Fire TV, Android TV, Android, and iOS (together, "the apps"), and the EchoLab account service at api.echolab-app.com. It describes what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Your video stays with you

EchoLab's replay works by keeping a short rolling buffer of your camera's video in the memory of your own device. That buffer is continuously discarded as new video arrives. When you save a clip, the clip file and its thumbnail are stored on the device that saved them.

What we collect, and why

Nothing, if you use the free app without signing in

You can install EchoLab and use the free tier without creating an account. In that case the apps send us no personal information.

Your email address, if you create an account

Signing in (for example, to unlock a paid plan) uses your email address and a one-time code — there is no password. We store your email address, an internal account identifier, and which subscription tier your account has. We use this only to operate sign-in and licensing. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or send marketing you didn't ask for.

Subscription state, if you subscribe

Purchases are made through the Amazon Appstore, Google Play, or our web checkout, and payment details (card numbers, billing address) are handled by those platforms — we never see them. Our subscription partner RevenueCat processes purchase receipts on our behalf so your plan can unlock across devices; it receives your account identifier and purchase history for EchoLab, not your name or payment details.

Basic device records for licensing

When a device signs in, we store a randomly generated device identifier so you can see and manage which devices use your subscription. It isn't tied to advertising identifiers and can't be used to track you across other apps.

Error reports — only if you opt in

The apps include an optional diagnostics setting, off by default. If you turn it on, the apps send anonymised error reports (error type, app version, device model) to Sentry, an error-aggregation service, so we can find and fix bugs. These reports never include video, clips, or camera details. Turn the setting off at any time to stop all reporting.

What we don't do

What's stored on your devices

The apps keep their working data locally: camera connection details, your saved views and settings, saved clips and thumbnails, and — if you've signed in — a session token and a cached copy of your subscription so paid features keep working offline. Credentials are stored using the platform's encrypted storage. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

How long we keep account data

We keep your account record for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete it (see below), we remove it from our systems; records required for tax or fraud-prevention purposes by our payment platforms are governed by their retention policies.

Your choices and rights

Children

EchoLab is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Footage of training sessions — including sessions involving minors — stays on your own devices and under your control; you are responsible for using cameras lawfully in your facility.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be called out in the apps before they take effect.
